Lillian Kiang

Chief Executive Officer, Bei Shan Tang Foundation

Lillian Kiang is Chief Executive Officer of Bei Shan Tang Foundation. An alumna of MIT and Harvard Business School, she spent nearly two decades in finance, working at Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch before serving as Director of Investment at Temasek Holdings and Deputy Chief Manager at CK Asset Holdings. While helping businesses grow was rewarding, her passion for education through volunteer work inspired her to transition into philanthropy. In 2020, she joined Bei Shan Tang Foundation as its newly created role, where she manages the foundation’s financial investments and applies her investment acumen to drive greater social impact, fostering a more inclusive and flourishing future for the next generation.

Established in 1985 to institutionalize the philanthropic vision of the late Dr. J. S. Lee, Bei Shan Tang Foundation focuses on two missions. The first is Chinese art and culture—enhancing global understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture by advancing scholarship and building capacity in traditional Chinese art and art history. The second is Education—Wellbeing First, catalyzing the evolution of Hong Kong education to a place where wellbeing is the foundation of student success, teacher fulfillment, home–school partnership, and thriving communities. The Foundation drives its mission by operating its own philanthropic programmes while empowering strategic partners through targeted grants.
